Taking an existing space and transforming it into something completely new, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business hired MHAworks to turn an old faculty hall into a new tiered, U-shape classroom that could hold over 75 students. The tiers in this space utilized an expanded foam block base with a concrete topping, supporting fixed tables with custom Corian solid surface tops.
Renovating this 3,294 square-foot classroom also required removing a wood burning fireplace to fit in a teaching wall with a projection screen and two monitors. The room also required electrical work to accommodate for outlets neat the desks and acoustic wall panels were installed to improve sound and provide some privacy.
