Beyu Caffe

MHAworks designed the relocation of Beyú Caffè (pronounced be-you). Beyú is a combination of
four business models in downtown Durham, North Carolina — coffee shop, restaurant, bar,
and live jazz club — successfully wrapped into one unique business venture.

Our work included exceptional design and details to the bar, built-in seating, and millwork, as well
as a storefront system. We assisted in the assessment of demolition issues and developed
cost-effective design methods. MHAworks met with the City of Durham Historic Preservation
Commission to present the new storefront design and completed the paperwork for the
Certificate of Appropriateness.
