Barry Hill, AIA
Senior Vice President / Senior Project Architect
Barry Hill became a registered architect in 1987 and joined MHAworks in 1991, but his experience in the profession actually began much earlier. After studying Political Science at UNC Chapel Hill, he filled a clerical position with a local Architectural firm that evolved into a technical support role. This change in position eventually led him back to school in 1977 for a second degree, this one in Architecture. As MHAworks has grown over the years, specialties within the organization have developed, some out of interest and others out of necessity. An appreciation and understanding of the current building code is required in any type of architectural practice, but once the firm’s work with industrial clients began, a comprehensive knowledge of the Building Code, the Fire Code, NFPA and OSHA regulations became paramount in our efforts to serve our clients’ needs. Barry moved into that role and continues to work to remain up-to-date as the Codes are revised and re-interpreted. The scale and complexity involved in design and engineering in the industrial setting is of genuine interest to Barry. We value our relationships with these clients and appreciate the information, training and understanding we have gained through our involvement with the scientists, engineers, facilities managers, riggers and tradesmen that make these types of projects come together.
