Collier Mixed-Use Development Approved by Planning and Zoning Commission

Nov 05 2021

On November 3, the City of Asheville’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted in favor of the Collier Mixed-Use Development project, which will bring new opportunities for housing, retail, and dining to the South Slope District. This project will move forward with construction starting in mid to late 2022.

The Collier Mixed-Use Development is a brick-built, flat-iron style building located at the corner of Collier and Millard Avenue. The building is three stories and features commercial, hospitality and residential space with underground parking and public roof access.

The ground level will feature approximately 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space with covered outdoor seating. The second level will be a boutique hotel containing 25 standard hotel suites and 10 extended stay hotel suites, while the third level will contain three, for-sale condominium units. Residents, guests, and customers will have access to a green roof and restaurant along with an underground parking garage of 35 spaces that is accessible from Millard Avenue.

“This newly constructed cornerstone building will be a symbol representing the gateway to Asheville’s extremely popular Brewery District. It will take a nod to the existing industrial architecture allowing for the area to continue to flourish,” Peter Alberice, Office Director of MHAworks, the project’s architect of record, said.

Northhub LLC, the developer behind this project and owner of the property, has worked closely with MHAworks to ensure sustainable design practices. This project will be pursuing Green Globes certification, a comprehensive, science-based building sustainability rating system. The developer will also contribute to the City’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
