Marketing & Communications Coordinator | Durham, NC

The marketing and communications coordinator will be responsible for the management and creation of written content. The ideal candidate for this position is responsive, assertive, and resourceful with excellent writing skills and research capabilities. As a key member of the MHAworks marketing team, the marketing and communications coordinator must have the ability to work independently and with a larger team. Other needed critical skills are strong attention to detail, ability to balance and prioritize work assignments, and comfort working in a deadline-driven environment.


  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or related field
  • Excellent writing skills, research capabilities, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and organization skills


  • Creation of Content (60% of the role)
    • Lead content development efforts for the company, writing content for: Project descriptions, Case studies/white papers, Press releases, Web posts, and Social media
  • Social Media and Website Maintenance (20% of the role)
    • Manage website and social media to maintain updated information regarding news and project updates and SEO
    • Plan and execute digital content campaigns for website and social media
  • Team Support (10% of the role)
    • Support event planning and execution
    • Coordinate project photography
    • Assist occasionally in request for qualifications (RFQ) or request for proposal (RFP) submittal process
    • Complete miscellaneous tasks for the marketing team
  • Research (10% of the role)
    • Assist business development director with miscellaneous research projects
    • Assist in prospecting, recruiting, and new business opportunities


  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • AP Style
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign
  • Experience managing various social media platforms
  • CRM system management
  • Multitasker that can handle the pressure of tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational, planning, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Exhibits a can-do attitude and willingness to lead and follow as a team player
  • Responsive, assertive, and resourceful

A Plus:

  • Comfortable working in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience managing WordPress or other Web creation platform
  • Photography
  • Knowledge of the A/E/C industry or related field
  • SEO knowledge
