About MHAworks

OUR PHILOSOPHY IS SIMPLE—WE PUT OUR CLIENTS FIRST. THIS HAS PROVEN SUCCESSFUL FOR 30+ YEARS.

Our Firm

MHAworks is a commercial architecture firm serving clients in North Carolina from offices in Durham, Greenville, and Asheville. Founded in 1988 by Michael J. Hining, AIA, the firm provides architecture, interior design, and planning services.

As a company we are committed to excellence in all that we do – especially providing superior client service. We are a service-focused architecture firm that pursues relationships, not projects. MHAworks sets out to achieve long-term, successful relationships with each of our clients. We focus on listening and working together to create the best results and because of this more than 80 percent of our projects are from existing clients.

Our Local Expertise

We believe a local presence is vital to our high standard of service and the quality work that we do. MHAworks achieves this with three offices placed strategically across North Carolina. This ensures we stay familiar with local development ordinances and codes, maintain regional consultant talent, and enables us to work on multiple projects with many of the contractors in the areas we serve. Most importantly it allows MHAworks to contribute to the communities where we all live, work, and play.

Our Services

The strength of our team at MHAworks is supported by years of experience within the field of architecture and interior design. We deliver classic design, synthesized with the next generation of creativity and leadership, and approach each project with a commitment to adhere to the specifics of our client’s site, program, functional, financial, and aesthetic criteria. MHAworks’ experience combined with a collaborative design approach provides a strong foundation for our services:

Our Commitment to Diversity

We are committed to diversity in the workplace and actively recruit for the best and brightest minority and women professional candidates to join our highly skilled design teams. Though we do not hold a historically underutilized business (HUB) or minority/women-owned business enterprise (MWBE) status, MHAworks strives to be inclusive. As of today, our total firm’s minority and female staff is a full 65 percent of our firm’s total.

Our Staff

At MHAworks, our staff professionals is our greatest resource. They strive to stay current with best practices, design trends, and products by attending continuing education seminars, manufacturing trade shows, and education workshops. Their cumulative skills, service, and experience exemplify the highest degree of excellence and commitment we deliver to our clients.

MHAworks is committed to providing our clients the highest level of responsiveness and service for their projects. We do this by having each member of our team work on only a few active projects at a time with each project in a different stage of the process. This allows us to focus intensively on individual projects, giving them the attention needed for success.
