Matthew Johnson, AIA, NCARB
Matthew grew up in Raleigh as the son of an Artist and an Engineer. His passion for Architecture grew out of his exposure to his parents’ professions and the blending of his love for art and technology. He attended North Carolina State University where he received a Bachelor’s of Environmental Design in Architecture. He then received his Masters in Architecture from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. After graduating, Matthew moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his wife to experience another part of the country and begin his career in architecture. He worked for a small firm where he was able to take an active role in every part of a project from concept to completion and quickly worked his way from an Intern to a Project Manager. After the birth of their daughter, Matthew and his wife felt it was time to be closer to their families and began their journey to move back ‘home’ to North Carolina. They had the opportunity to move to Greenville, where Matthew was able to join the MHAworks team as a Project Architect. He brings to the firm his experience in Retail Design and Development as well as his drive to continue expanding his knowledge of Architecture and how it plays a role in shaping our everyday lives. These days, when he is not in the office, he is most likely chasing after his daughter and spending time with his family.
