MHAworks Completes Office and Training Spaces for UNC Healthcare in Morrisville

July 5th, 2017

MHAworks is wrapping up renovations to 182,000 sf of office space and training rooms at the Lenovo Campus in Morrisville, NC. UNC Healthcare commissioned MHAworks to design the upfit, as they sought to relocate over 1,000 employees from various locations to the new office space. MHAworks renovated floors 2-5, totaling 152,000 sf, and half of the first floor, covering about 13,000 sf.

MHAworks updated offices, light fixtures, and conference rooms, built new offices and conference rooms, updated breakrooms, turned old computer labs into open office space, enlarged the bathrooms, and turned a gym into training rooms. Toma Rogers was the architect for this project, with Julia Brewer serving as project manager.

Julia says the permitting of the new space, along with the phasing of the renovation were by far the most challenging aspects of project management.”We started drawings, but because they wanted to move employees as quickly as possible, we ended up phasing those drawings. Once we got a permit, construction went very quickly, but the main challenge was coordinating all the different groups involved.”
